666,085. Aerials. KENNEDY, A., and OWEN, R. May 9, 1950 [May 13, 1949], No. 12761/49. Class 40 (vii). An insulator for supporting the arms of a dipole aerial comprises a body 1 of a moulded plastic material, having sockets 8 adapted to receive the inner ends of the dipole elements 5, with a contact member 9 fixed at the inner end of each socket 8 and adapted to be enclosed within a socket 13 formed in the inner end of the corresponding dipole element. In the embodiment illustrated, the insulator forms part of a television aerial of the H-type comprising a dipole and reflector supported, on a cross-arm, the insulator having a reduced portion 3 which fits within the end of the tubular cross-arm 4. A pin 6 secures the insulatior to the cross-arm. The contact members 9 either screw or plug into their respective sockets 13, with a plug fitting clamping screws are provided for securing the dipole elements within the sockets 8. Heads 11 are soldered to the heads of the contact members 9 before being moulded within the insulator body 1.
