Abstract

800,577. Aerials; R.F. couplings; diplex radio signalling. SHARDLOW ELECTRIC WIRES, Ltd., and JONES, P. Nov. 9, 1956 [Aug. 25, 1955], No. 24450/55. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (7). An aerial arrangement for the reception of signals in two separate frequency bands comprises a base supporting a folded dipole for the reception of signals in the higher frequency band, which dipole comprises half-sections mounted in upstanding V-position on the base, and an aerial for the lower band either mounted on the base or connected thereto, the two aerials being connected within the base to a single feeder. Fig. 1 shows the general appearance of one form of the arrangement in which both aerials are mounted on the base 1. The folded dipole 2, 2a is arranged V-wise as shown, and a quarter-wave unipole 3 for the lower band provided between the sections. The base may be hollow (Fig. 2, not shown) and consist of a top cover and a foot part. The latter can be provided with a hollow in which is retained a plate carrying sockets to receive the aerial rods, a clamp to hold the feeder, filter and loading circuits, and a socket for a separate lower frequency aerial if required. The aerial rods fit into their sockets through holes in the top cover. Fig. 3 indicates a suitable form of filter and loading circuit.
