Abstract
665,864. Display stands. COOK, F. L., and TOMPKINS, H. A. March 13, 1950. [March 11, 1949] No. 6753/49. Class 52 (iii). In a column or upright supporting member of a display stand &c. comprising a number of sections connected together, at least two adjacent sections are separated by a pair of spaced flange members which project beyond the periphery of the column so that the edge of a shelf or other display supporting plate may be located between them. As shown, a number of sections 16 are connected together by a rod 12 which is screwed into a base 10 and provided with a nut 19 at its upper end. The sections 16 are mounted on the rod 12 by means of discs 21 secured in the adjacent ends of the sections and between such ends a spacing member 18 is placed so that one or more pairs of flanged discs 17 are gripped between the sections and the spacing members 18. The spacing members 18 are provided with discs 24 secured thereto and between the flanged discs 17 are placed the display shelves 28. The opposing faces of the flanged discs 17 may. be faced with cork, rubberised cork or rubber or the spacing members 18 may be of rubber. Instead of a rod 12 the sections themselves may be provided with screwed spigots and corresponding sockets by which the sections are connected.
