Abstract

1,135,672. Furniture. AMERICAN METAL PRODUCTS CO. 5 Sept., 1966, No. 39519/66. Heading A4H. A pedestal for supporting an article of furniture comprises a top plate 5, an upright pipe 9, a cross member 13 and a bottom plate 6 clamped together by nuts 17 screwed on to the lower ends of the rods 15 screwed into the upper plate. The cross member 13 fits into notches in the lower end of the tube and its ends are downwardly inclined and engage the floor. Two cross members with interengaging notches (Figs. 4, 8) may be provided. An L-shaped desk (Fig. 6) may be supported on three pedestals of different heights connected by cross-bars (20a), (20b). The pedestal may include two additional bowed cross members (35, 36) (Figs. 9, 10) vertically aligned with the cross members (11) and adapted to support a foot supporting ring (41).
