A table comprising a rigid adjustable support 3, 4 disposed on one side of a mobile subframe 2 and a table top 5 cantilevered from the support and adjustable in height, has a detachable additional prop in the form of a rod to support the side of the table top remote from the support 3, 4. The additional prop may comprise two vertically adjustable telescopic members 9, 10, Fig. 1, or an inclined rod 13, Fig. 5 (not shown), whose upper end is slidably and lockably connected to a beam 7 supporting the table top 5, or a cranked rod 22, 23, Fig. 9 (not shown), whose lower arm 23 is vertically adjustable in a sleeve 26. The table top 5 may pivot about the axis of the beam 7 and be locked in position by a clamping screw 8.
