Abstract
1,228,141. Roof rack convertible to bed or table. R. C. V. WOODROFFE. 18 April, 1968 [20 Jan., 1967], No. 3029/67. Heading B7J. [Also in Division A4] To enable a vehicle roof rack, comprising telescopic sections 1 and 2, to be converted into a frame for a bed or table, the roof anchorage arms 9, which are pivoted to the upper members 1b of one rack section, may be swung down to allow a peg 12 projecting therefrom to pass through aligned holes in the lower members 1c, 2c thereby providing vertical bracing between the upper and lower members of each section and preventing telescoping. Each arm 9 consists of a cranked portion 9b fitted at its outer end with a sliding sleeve 9a on which a clamp is threaded. A sheet 15 or boards, Fig. 5 (not shown), convert the rack into the bed or table respectively. Extension legs may replace suckers 4 when the rack is used as a table and also the arms 9 may alternatively be pivoted inside the frame members, thereby preventing pegs 12 passing through the aligned holes.
