Abstract

926,369. Awnings. R. G. ANDRAULT. Oct. 6, 1961 [Oct. 6, 1960; July 18, 1961; Sept. 28, 1961], No. 36019/61. Class 20 (1). [Also in Group XXXII] An awning for attachment to a caravan has a folding frame comprising two end sections 1, 2 and at least one intermediate section 3, each section having a post 5 adjustable in length, a crossbar 21 hinged to post 5 and the adjoining post by a removable joint 19, Fig. 2, and a ridge pole 17 hinged at 15 to post 5 and being attachable at 18 to the caravan to which canvas 49, Fig. 15, is attached at the same points as the ridge-poles by a batten 52 incorporated in edge 50 of canvas 49. The posts 5 and cross-bars 21 are adjustable in length by telescopic parts locked together by pins, and ridge-poles 17 are telescopic with the two parts biased apart by a spring, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). The batten 52, which may comprise several pivoted sections, engages bolts 54, Fig. 16, fixed to caravan C; the ridgepoles are attached to bolts 54 by twisted plates 38, 39, which may be linked to the ridge-pole by a universal joint, interconnected rings, or elasticallyconnected telescopic members, Figs. 8-10 (not shown).
