Abstract
663,119. Ring spinning machines. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. June 29,1949 [June 29, 1948], No. 17217/49. Class 120(ii) In a ring spinning machine having a vertically reciprocable ring rail. the ring rail is capable of being raised above the level of the spindles, permitting turning of spindle rails to remove filled bobbins and present empty ones. The ring rail 16 is raised above the spindles 14 by lever mechanism (not shown), operated by a cam 33, the follower 36 of which is projected into its path by a solenoid 34 energized at intervals by counter mechanism (not shown). The cam 33 disengages the normal ring rail traversing cam 21 from its follower 23. A solenoid 54 draws a gear 58 into the path of a sector 61 causing rotation of the spindle rails 12 through 180 degrees by the gear trains 61, 58, 68, 69, 72, 73. Prior to rotation of the rails 12, switches 38, 40 operated by the rail 16 cause the threads 19 to be sucked into conduits 49 and severed against a sharp edge. After rotation of the rails, the rail 16 operates the switches to cause a momentary flow of air from the conduits 49 to blow the severed thread into contact with the empty bobbins. The rails 12 may be replaced by turrets carrying a number of spindles. The rails 12 are locked in position during winding, by cams 76 engaging slots in the gears 73.
