661,564. Electric discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 11, 1949 [July 23, 1948], No. 19756/48. Class 39 (i). An electrode structure for a low pressure metal vapour discharge device, e.g. a fluorescent lamp, comprises a coiled filament 1 shielded from the main discharge by two closely spaced flat plates 5 mounted either side by side or end to end, parallel to the axis of the filament 1, and connected one to each end of the filament. The plates may alternatively be curved to surround the filament.
