Abstract

660,850. Stripping cables. LUCAS, Ltd., J. March 17, 1950 [March 23, 1949], No. 7887/49. Class 36. A machine for baring the ends of armature windings comprises a headstock a in which one end of the spindle b of an armature e is supported, a bearing f for the other end of the spindle, a pair of co-operating rotary scratch brushes i which act on the ends of some of the wires g which are deflected outwardly from the armature to pass between the brushes, and a scraper u co-operating with an additional scratch brush for baring the ends of the remaining wires h. The brushes i are driven in any convenient manner and their action on the ends of the wires g imparts a rotary motion to the armature c. The scraper u is formed with sharp-edged annular or helical grooves and is driven with an axial reciprocatory motion as well as a rotary motion. The wires b are held against the scraper u by a rotary scratch brush 2 (Fig. 2, not shown). During the rotation of the armature both groups of wires g and hare simultaneously bared by the action of the brushes and scraper.
