738,127. Brush gear for dynamo-electric machines. BOSCH GES., R. Oct. 2, 1953 [Oct. 3, 1952], No. 27015/53. Class 35. A dynamo-electric machine such as a small motor has the surface of its rotating armature commutator 17 contacted by brushes 24 having longitudinal grooves 23 by which they are retained and guided in radial slots 22 in an electrically insulating plate 20 secured to or within the machine housing, the radially inner ends of the slots having an aperture 21 through which projects the commutator 17. In the embodiment shown the brushes 24 are loaded by helical springs 25 located by extensions 27 in enlarged parts 26 of the slots 22, and the plate 20 is loaded by springs 19 into engagement with distance sleeves 18 which abut the field 10, such members being carried by bolts or screws 13 by which cap-shaped housing members 11, 12 are secured to the field. In another embodiment the plate is the base of a moulded part having extensions which directly abut the field, and the brushes are loaded by torsion springs located by bushes on the plate and anchored by lugs which also form connecting clips to which the current supply cables are connected.
