Abstract

660,312. Feeding sheets. MARKEM MACHINE CO. April 14, 1949, No. 10177/49. Class 100 (i). A device for lifting and removing a sheet of cloth or paper from the top of a pile of such sheets comprises a roll 4 of pressure-sensitive tape 7 mounted on a holder 3, the tape being brought into contact with the sheet, automatically or by hand, and means being provided whereby, periodically, a fresh section of tape is exposed. As shown, the tape 7 passes around a lower roll 6 on a spindle 12 mounted in a plate 5 adapted to slide in guides 9. The plate 5 is pressed downwardly by a spring 10. A ratchet-wheel 18 (not shown) on the spindle 12 is engaged by a spring- pressed pawl 20 whereby, when the roll 6 is pressed upwardly towards the roll 4 on engagement with a top sheet on the pile, the roll 6 is given a slight rotation. The tape is thus wound gradually on to the lower roll 6. The holder 3 is provided with a handle 14. The device is described as for use in a machine which prints or marks each sheet of the pile.
