[Class 100 (ii).] In a machine for printing and moistening a strip of adhesive material, in which the strip is drawn from a supply roll 23 between a rotary printing couple and over a moistening device 33, the printing-cylinder 1 is mounted in pivoted arms 3 and is inked by a roller 8 mounted in arms 9 pivoted to the arms 3. The rollers 1, 8 are maintained in operative position by springs 6, 10 or counterweights acting upon the arms 3, 9 and are mounted in open slots in the arms, the roller 8 being retained in its arms by hooks 11 pivoted on the roller shaft and engaging pins 12 on the arms. The roller 8 receives ink from a wick extending from a trough 18 into the inkreservoir 13. This reservoir is removably held by spring catches 16 on a plate which may be resilient and fixed to the machine frame, or, as shown, may be pivoted on the pivots of the arms 3 and held raised by springs 7 or counterweights. The printed tape passes between guide plates 25, 26 and thence between the plate 25 and the up-turned edge of a plate 27 having a bent part 27' forming a spring. The plate 25 may be raised against the action of springs 31 to facilitate threading of the strip. After moistening the strip may be severed against a fixed knife 35. The roll 23 is carried by side plates 37 adjustable for rolls of different width.
