Abstract

388,580. Printing-machines. RITZERFELD, W., 107, Lutzowstrasse, Berlin. March 17, 1932, No. 7955. Convention date, March 17, 1931. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii).] Copying documents, drawings, and the like.- In apparatus for copying documents &c. of the kind wherein moistened copy-sheets are passed between rollers, one of which carries a printing-sheet consisting of an original document provided with a mirror copy on its reverse side, a free passage below the moistening- device is provided for the copy sheet after each printing operation, and the copy sheets are automatically advanced from a pile to the front, where the printing-rollers contact. As shown, the original is stretched reverse side out over a roller 1 coacting with an impression roller 2, and sheets from a pile-table -25 pass under moistener 3 supported by a rod 5 and pressed downwardly by a spring 31. The moistener is periodically raised by a cam 11 on the roller 1, acting through a roller-arm 6<1> and an integral arm 6 connected to the moistener ; the effect of the spring 3<1> and rod 5 is to cause the moistener to advance as it drops, and therefore to tend to advance the sheet right up to the rollers 1, 2. The roller 1 is rotated intermittently from a main drive shaft by means of Geneva pinions 12, 13, the sheets being fed in the intervals when the roller is stationary. Starting and stopping arrangements.-A ratchet 17 fixed on the main drive shaft engages a pawl 18 pivoted to a pinion 16 fixed to the pinion 12 ; an arm 19 pivoted about the shaft and normally carried round by the pawl 18 may be detained by pushing a slide 20 to the right into the path of the arm, whereupon the pawl is disengaged and the machine is declutched. The slide 20 is pushed to the left by hand to start the machine and to the right either by hand or, when the pile of sheets on the table 25 is exhausted, by an arm 22 carrying a roller 23 adapted to drop through an aperture 251 in the table ; a lever 24 is provided for raising the rod 22 back to normal position. Sheet -separators pile-tables.-The sheets are fed by rollers 15 rotatable in one direction only and driven intermittently by Geneva mechanism comprising the pinion 16 and a pinion 14 on the shaft of the rollers 15. The table 25 is pivoted at 26 and is pressed up to the rollers 15 or to the moistener 3 or other stop by an adjustable weight 27 or by a spring.
