Abstract
670,175. Copying documents. PANUSKA, P., and LIBRA, B. March 3, 1949 [March 3, 1948], No. 5849/49. Class 100 (ii). In a mirror-script line-duplicator having a roller pressure device and a copy sheet wetting device both synchronously adjustable along the drum carrying the master sheet, a wetting liquid container extends above the wetting device over the whole length of the duplicating drum and has discharge valves spaced along its bottom at intervals equal to or less than the effective width of the wetting device. As shown the liquid container 5 extending over the whole length of the wetting device guide plate 3 has spring-closed outlet valves 8 spaced correspondingly to the width of a collecting groove in a sliding carrier 9 to which at 16 is detachably hinged a casing 15 for two wetters having pads 19, 19' of different widths each manually retractable by a button 21; a spring 38 presses the wetters into operative position except when an abutment 29 at each end of the duplicating drum 2 withdraws them at the initial position through levers 25 pivoted at 28 to the machine sides and connected by a rod 24 which acts on a lever 26 pivoted at 27 to the carrier 9 and engaging a projection 15<SP>1</SP> on the casing 15. As the carrier 9 is moved along its guide plate 3 the lever 26 slides a short roller 23 along the rod 24 to engage the lever 22 of the appropriate valve 8; to vary the liquid feed the roller 23 may be of varying diameter along its length or may have a projection 23<SP>1</SP>. Corresponding in width to the wetters 19, 19<SP>1</SP> are two presser rollers 30 which are brought into operative position by means of levers 33, 33<SP>1</SP> engaging adjustable abutments 36 on their bell-crank holders 32. The carriers 9, 10 of the wetting and pressing devices are synchronously adjusted along their guides 3, 4 by cables wound on drums at both sides of the machine, one drum being spring- loaded and the other manually or mechanically controlled and locked frictionally, by ratchets &c. The paper feed table may be fixed, with adjustable side ledges, or may be connected with the carrier 10. Two or more pairs of wetting and pressing devices may be mounted on the same guides 3, 4. The parts 19, 19' and 30 may be replaced respectively by a single pad and roller equal to their combined widths.
