Abstract

1,016,552. Feeding sheets. RANK-XEROX Ltd. July 2, 1962 [June 30,1961], No. 25225/62. Heading B6B. [Also in Division G2] Pile table and supports.-A paper supply tray 408 comprises angleshaped plates 413, 414 secured to a base-plate 409 and a back stop 418 slidable in a channel 415. The back stop is located in position by a latch 425 engaging slots in one edge of the plate 414. Side guides 416, 417 are slidably mounted on a cross-bar carried by the back stop and are held in position by spring- prossed balls engaging recesses in said cross-bar. Bars 448 secured to the sides of the tray, co-operate with the machine frame whereby the tray may be slid into and out of its operative position. Separators.-Leaf springs 436, secured to the side guides, carry friction pads 434. Each friction pad is secured to a metal carrier 435 loosely secured to the leaf-spring to permit slight relative movement. The friction pads are movable away from the stack by pivoted arms 439, carrying cams 437, to facilitate renewal of the pile. A freely rotatable drag roller 441 is supported by arms 443, pivotally mounted on the cross-bar. The drag roller engages the second sheet in the stack after the topmost sheet has been fed forwardly a short distance, to prevent double feed. Friction pads 412 are provided in the base of the tray. The topmost sheet is separated from the stack by rotating friction rollers and fed forwardly by co-operating rollers, as described in Specification 1,016,700, to the rotating drum of a xerographic printing machine.
