Abstract
1,216,910. Feeding sheets. AGFA.GEVAERT A.G. 11 April, 1968 [15 April, 19671, No. 17528/68. Heading B8R. Apparatus for feeding sheets individually from a stack of sheets 14, Fig. 1, comprises a feed-table 11, one or more friction rollers 6, resilient means urging the topmost sheet of the stack against the friction roller(s), which are rotated intermittently. A front stop 15 serving to restrain the stack, and two marginal stops (18, 19), Fig. 2 (not shown), formed with flanges which extend over the margins of the stack, and are spaced slightly away from the upper surface of the stack when the latter is held in contact with the roller(s) 6. The stops are fixed to the main frame of the apparatus, while the table 11 and stack 14 are urged upwards by spring 13. The stops (18, 19) are mounted respectively on laterally adjustable side walls (16, 17), which are preferably provided with downwardly-extending lugs 16a, 16b, 16c passing through corresponding apertures in the table 11 to provide lateral support for the stack during movement of the stack. Feed rollers 30, 31 rotate continuously to deliver partially-separated sheets to an office copying or duplicating machine. The flanges of stops (18, 19) are generally 0À1 to 0À5 mms. above the top of the stack during feeding. In operation, the main body of each stop (18, 19) engages the front end of the topmost sheet at its margin, and cause the centre of the sheet to arch upwards; continued forward movement forces the sheet over the stops to rollers 30, 31.
