Abstract

Hydrogen peroxide and halogen halides are stabilized by the addition of a colloidally dissolved silicic acid. A silicic acid of 10 per cent strength is used in the examples, one of which comprises also a 40 per cent solution of hydrogen peroxide. Specified halogen halides are iodine monochloride, iodine trichloride, iodine monobromide, iodine pentafluoride and bromine trifluoride.ALSO:A stable disinfectant is produced by adding hydrogen peroxide or a halogen halide to a colloidally dissolved silicic acid with or without the further addition of an alcohol, such as ethyl alcohol or glycerine. Specified halogen halides are iodine monochloride, iodine trichloride, iodine monobromide, iodine pentafluoride and bromine trifluoride. A colloidally dissolved silicic acid of 10 per cent strength is used in the examples, one of which contains also 40 per cent by volume hydrogen peroxide.
