Abstract

659,434. Hot water supply systems. MILNER, J. B. Feb. 21, 1949, No. 4615. [Class 64(i)] The mixing chamber of Specification 639,318, together with its attached rising pipe which may be detachable, is made as a separate unit which is insertable through an aperture in a hot water storage tank and is then locatable so that two circulation pipe bosses connected to the chamber project from the tank, and a closure device for the aperture in the tank is provided. In the form shown, an oval closure plate b which carries the mixing chamber a and two flow and return pipe bosses f, is inserted through an oval opening into the tank, the pipe d supporting and insulating the rising pipe c is screwed into the top of the mixing chamber a, and the plate b is turned and moved to close the opening after insertion of a washer n which rests on forwardly projecting pegs p. The plate b is then clamped to the wall o of the tank by an outer plate i and nuts m threading on to the studs k. The mixing chamber either has an open base, or has an aperture from which a pipe may extend to the lower part of the tank. In a modification, the mixing chamber is formed separately from the closure plate, and carries the two pipe bosses, for which two openings are provided in the tank wall. In a third form, the plate carrying the mixing chamber is clamped externally to a flange upon a frame surrounding an opening in the tank wall. Specification 659,435 also is referred to.
