Abstract
658,834. Gas purifiers. FOURS LECOCQ SOC. ANON. July 7, 1948, No. 18282. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1947. [Class 55(ii)] A- gas purifiercomprises stacked elements 10 for the purifying material, e.g. iron oxide, each formed with a sleeve 13 which is surmounted by a trough 11 containing water and adapted to receive the lower part of the sleeve 13 of the element next above, the uppermost sleeve being closed by a bell 16. The elements have a solid bottom 8 spaced from a perforate floor 9 which supports the iron oxide, the gas passing to the space between the bottom and the floor through ports 15 in the sleeve 13. The top seal is supplied with water through a pipe 5 and excess water gravitates from seal to seal through pipes 18. The lowest sleeve 13 dips into a seal on the floor 19 of the casing 1 and excess water escapes through a pipe 22. The gas enters the continuous space formed by the superposed sleeves 13 for the pipe 23, and passes through one or the other of the sets of ports 15 to make a single passage through an oxide bed before reaching the space 17 and the outlet 26. Condensation passes from the iron oxide on to the solid bottom of the trays and through the ports 15 into the water seals. The purifier is discharged after removing the lid 2, by removing the elements by a crane.
