700,249. Gas-purifying plant. BISCHOFF, G. Feb. 16, 1951 [Feb. 16, 1950], No. 3832/51. Class 55 (2) A plant for purifying gases, e.g. removing hydrogen sulphide from coke-oven gas, comprises a number of boxes containing purifying material which are arranged in permanent series connection gas-valves, one at the inlet to the first box and one at the outlet to the last box, being provided to direct the gas to be purified through a reserve purifier when the boxes are being refilled with fresh purifying material. In a modification the plant may comprise a main tower-type purifier and an auxiliary purifier, preferably also a tower-type purifier, having not more than half the capacity of the main purifier. Two or more sets of receptacles may be arranged in a common chamber of the main tower-type purifier, each set being arranged round a central gas conduit which is suitably partitioned so that the gas flows through the sets in series.
