Abstract

660,239. Gas purifiers. BALFOUR & CO., Ltd., H., and BUREAU, A. C. June 2, 1950 [March 7, 1949], No. 6102/49. Class 55 (ii). In a gas purifier of the type in which towers contain trays of purifying material, the towers are formed as compartments, in a common structure, by transverse partitions, the compartments being so interconnected by piping that gas can be passed through the compartments in any consecutive order, and any of the compartments can be disconnected from the remaining compartments. As shown, the common structure 1 is of rectangular form, the two long sides being stiffened to carry rails 5 on which runs a crane 6 for carrying trays to a gravity-operated tippler 7 which tips the spent material into a hopper 8. The compartments are interconnected by pipes 4. A tray 9 is shown resting on the ground for re-filling, and superposed trays 10 are shown in one compartment 3.
