Abstract

10,394. Jones, W. April 28. Liquids, purifying.-Apparatus for adding a solution of sulphate of alumina or the like to water flowing under pressure in a conduit K comprises a closed receptacle A doubly-connected with the conduit by pipes D, E so that the liquid enters from the conduit at the top and passes under gravity from the bottom to the conduit as a saturated solution. The receptacle is provided at the top with a charging-door C through which the solid reagent is supplied from time to time. The inlet pipe D is preferably provided with a liquid-meter L, and the solution passes through layers of gravel N resting on a perforated false bottom.
