Abstract
724,927. Gas filters. B.V.C. INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTIONS, Ltd. Feb. 3, 1953, No. 3059/53. Class 8 (2). Gas filtering apparatus comprises an inlet duct 6, Fig. 1, discharging dust laden gas downwardly into the base 10 of a vessel 1 having means e.g. a baffle 8 causing a change in direction of flow whereby gas ascends and passes inwardly through a plurality of porous ceramic filters 12 to a clean gas outlet 20, means being provided for back-flushing said filters 12 with air. Each filter 12 comprises superimposed lengths of tubing, of downwardly increasing porosity, disposed on a base plate 23 carried by tension rods 13 secured to upper perforated covers 14 carried by a plate 3 which with the top 2 of the vessel 1 provides a clean gas chamber 4 having valved outlet ducts 19, Fig. 3, one from each of two compartments formed by a vertical partition 5 having its lower end spaced from the baffle 8. Back-flushing is effected on closing the valve 21 of one duct 19 and opening a valve 22 in the other to admit atmospheric air.
