Abstract

657,958. Fastening shoes or the like. HEAD, F. A. E. April 4, 1949, No. 9163. [Classes 17(ii) and 43] A rigid fastener for eyeleted shoes or the like comprises a substantially straight part a which bridges the gap between two eyelets b and has an integral hook a<SP>1</SP> at each end for removably engaging the eyelets. Alternatively, a double fastener comprising two substantially straight parallel parts c connected by a cross-piece c<SP>2</SP>at one end, and having hooks c<SP>1</SP> at their free ends, may be engaged in two pairs of eyelets. The hooks are preferably of semi-circular cross-section, the flat sides being lowermost, and the parts a, c are slightly curved to conform to the shape of the foot. The fasteners are preferably made of, metal, e.g. a colour-anodized light alloy, or a plastic material may be used.
