704,656. Dress fastenings. WALKER, Ltd., T. March 5, 1953 [Dec. 13, 1952], No. 31639/52. Class 43 To prevent the bar 1 of the staple of a hook and staple fastenings device for trouser waistbands from rocking sideways when subjected to the pull of the hook, it is provided with lateral lugs 3 at each side, adjacent the attachment prongs 2 so as to provide an extended external bearing upon the face of the band. Notches 7 are provided at opposite sides of the root portions of the prongs so that when the prongs 2 have been clenched on the back plate'the edges of the holes in 'the back plate through which the prongs pass interlockingly engage with the notches 7. These holes are preferably semi-circular in shape. The main portion of the bar 1 of the staple is of channel or corrugated section with an inwardly presented concave face.
