Abstract

657,801. Vehicle brakes. GRAY, E. T. Y. Feb. 28, 1949, No. 5459. Addition to 643,929, [Group XXXII]. [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXXII] A tipping trailer of the type described in Specification 530,153, [Group XXXII], and the parent Specification comprises sprags 124 which are engaged with teeth 120, holes, spokes or the like on the wheels by rotation of a two-armed lever 125 slidably pivoted in a bracket 132 on the end of a longitudinally extending rod 128, the other end of which is in the form of a crank arm 129. Also journalled on the latter end of the rod 128 is an operating lever 130 connected by a spring 131 to the end of the crank 129. According to the setting of the lever 130 to one side or the other, see Fig. 2, the sprags 124 will be urged into or out of engagement with the wheels by the spring 131, the transverse slot in the bracket 132 for the end of rod 128 avoiding the necessity of simultaneous engagement. A sector plate 135 having holes 137 adapted to be engaged by pin 150 on the normal brake lever 82 whereby it may be locked in a set position is also described.
