Abstract
587,740. Tipping-vehicles. CARR, J. A. Jan. 13, 1945, No. 1080. [Class 108 (i)] In a tip vehicle the body a is slidably mounted on an undercarriage c which is attached by brackets d to an axle e carrying wheels f. A plate g secured to the carriage c is provided with notches g' and a bolt h forming part of a bell-crank h' engages in one of the notches to position the body relative to the axle and to lock the body in that position. The bell crank is connected by a bowden wire to a lever k mounted on the triangulated draw-bar l and the draw bar also carries a brake transmission rod r<1> and an eccentric cam m and lever n adapted to lock a bracket o on the body a to a channel l<1> on the draw-bar. The draw bar is pivoted to the body a at l<2> and is provided with a jack p or a castor wheel, and a chain s is provided for attachment to the wheel axle when the vehicle is to be moved in the tipped position. In tipping the brakes are applied, the cam m and bolt h released and the tractor backed to slide the body on the undercarriage until it tips.
