Abstract

206,993. Griffiths, E., nnd Linton, J. Oct. 16, 1922. Scotch-blocks; skid. - Relates to devices of the type wherein a scotch or shoe is normally suspended in an inoperative position behind the rear wheel of the vehicle, and clear of the road surface, and is adapted to be released for engagement beneath the wheel tread by mechanism operated from the driver's footboard; and consists in a direct lever suspension of the scotch from a rocking shaft supported by clip members on the rear axle casing. Two scotches e one for each wheel are supported by arms f from a shaft c journaled in arms b<1> secured to the axle casing by clips b. An arm i fast on the shaft c is connected by a rod j to one arm k of a bell-crank lever, pivoted at l to a plate m, the other arm k<1> being pivotally connected to a pedal n<1> passing through a slot in the plate m. The pedal is notched to engage under a lip at one edge of the slot.
