Abstract

657,685. Pressure gauges. BATTERSBY, D. J. Feb. 26, 1948, No. 5700. [Class 106 (ii)] In a tyre pressure gauge in which air from the tyre is admitted to one end of a cylindrical body a thus moving a spring-loaded piston k, the piston moves axially an indication sleeve p in frictional engagement with the body, and the position of the sleeve is visible through a window covered with transparent material s bearing a graduated scale (not shown). In the gauge shown, the pin of the tyre valve is depressed by a projection c in a recess b, thus allowing air to pass through a filter e and act on the piston having a cup-leather packing l and an extended stem m. The piston spring n abuts against a spring-loaded member u adjustable in an end cap f fixed to the body and having a cylindrical extension h. The sleeve p carries a frictional spring ring q which engages the inner surface of a portion of the body of smaller diameter than that containing the window.
