Class 146 (3 A reservoir pen of the kind in which a collapsible sac is deflated by increasing the air pressure within the pen barrel has a reciprocatory piston in the end of the barrel. As shown, the piston 13 has a fluid-tight ring 14 engaging the bore of the barrel 1, such that downward movement of the piston 13 deflates a sac 8 secured, at one end, to a nib section 10 and at a point along its length to the barrel by an air-tight ring 7. The air pressure is reduced to normal at the end of the downward stroke by leakage through a groove 16. The piston has an L-shaped groove 17 and 18 engaged by a pin 19 fixed to the barrel, such that the upward stroke of the piston is limited. Alternatively, the piston may be disc-shaped and secured to an axial rod, or may be solid instead of tubular as shown.
