654,433. Suction cleaners. McGUIRE. A. M.. and MORRISON, C. C. April 7, 1948, No. 9721. Convention date. May 5, 1947. [Class 8(i)] [Also in Group XII] A suction cleaner comprising a head 10 connected by hose 12 with a motor and impeller housing 16 has at the end of a further conduit 32 a mixing chamber 36 adapted at the neck to grip a water tap 42 disposed over a drain 44. A perforated partition 45 distributes the water as a spray across and into which incoming dusty air is deflected by a concave surface 47. A screen 46 across the only outlet from the chamber retains solid particles too large for the drain. The Specification as open to in- .spection under Sect. 91 comprises also means for providing a constant load for the motor and prevent overspeeding consisting of a spring-biassed piston tending to be drawn by the impeller suction towards the front end of a hollow deflector within the motor housing. This subject matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
