Abstract

343,894. Vacuum cleaners. JUELSON, E., 7450, North Artesian Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. Nov. 21, 1929, No. 35615. [Class 8 (i).] A vacuum cleaner comprises a cylindrical sheet metal casing 1 provided with a cover 10 secured in place by bolts 7. Suspended from this cover is a motor driving a fan 18 housed within a cavity in the cover and having an inlet 14 connected to a swivel neck 43 to which a hose to a suction nozzle is connected. Surrounding the motor and suspended from the cover is a filter cell 25 comprising a perforated cylinder covered by filtering material, the cell being provided with a flexible neck 30, fitting into a spigot 5 of an outlet 4 in the casing 1. An opening 35 is provided in the cover for connecting the fan chamber to the annular space 31, and an opening 47, usually plugged, can be used as a connection to a blower. Casing 1 is provided with a handle 51 to assist in emptying litter.
