Abstract

983,506. Floor cleaning machines. HOOVER Ltd. July 3, 1961 [July 11, 1960 (2)], No. 24022/61. Heading A4F. A floor cleaning machine includes means for sucking up detergent liquid from a floor through a suction nozzle 10 in an air stream and conveying it to an air/liquid separator 13, a reservoir 33 for liquid defoaming agent 53 situated in or adjacent the nozzle 10, and means for dispersing the defoaming agent ino the air/liquid mixture before it reaches the separator 13. The removable reservoir 33, vented by a pipe 48, has porous walls 46, 47 through which the defoament 53 seeps to be dispensed into the liquid sucked through a slit 17 in the nozzle 10 by a motor-fan 11 and carried, via tubes 18, 21, to the separator 13. Alternatively, (Fig. 6, not shown) the reservoir is provided with an open ended tubular passage through which the defoament is sucked into the air/ liquid mixture. A removable tank 12 is provided for supplying detergent liquid to the floor as required. Specification 928,046 is referred to.
