Abstract

1,261,482. Rug shampooing apparatus. ELECTROLUX Ltd. Feb.2, 1970 [Feb. 13, 1969], No.4837/70. Heading A4F. Exhaust air from a vacuum cleaner is passed via a by-pass valve 13, a flexible hose 11, and a hollow tubular handle to a receptacle 10 for cleaning liquid and generated foam in a rug shampooing apparatus. The valve 13 permits part only of the exhaust air-flow to pass through the hose 11, the remainder being by-passed to atmosphere. Air from the hose 11 passes to a perforated discharge device 14 to generate foam in the liquid in the receptacle 10, and the foam passes through openings 17 to a discharge tube 16 and thence on to a ribbed distributing roller 23. The apparatus together with a container for cleaning liquid may be mounted on a portable stand 27, Fig. 6 (not shown) when not in use.
