Abstract

1462615 Suction cleaning apparatus LAVER (CLEANERS) Ltd 16 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 18325/73 Heading A4F Carpets, upholstery and other fabrics are cleaned by a suction device wherein cleaning liquid is applied to the surface being cleaned and then removed by suction. The suction is produced by a fan 9 driven by a motor 10, the air being exhausted from an outlet which, as described, comprises openings 34 adjacent apertures 45. A flow of cooling air is thereby induced which passes over the motor 10, the cooling air being drawn from the ambient atmosphere at a position spaced from the suction air exhaust outlet, which in the described embodiment is situated under cap 40. As described, activation of the motor 10 creates a reduction of pressure in container 1, cover 2 and a flexible hose which is connected to a suction nozzle. Liquid is thereby drawn from tank 5 through a tube disposed within the flexible hose and discharged on to the surface. The used liquid is then sucked back through the hose to outer container 1, the air passing through port 11 to the fan 9. The cooling air is relatively moisture free since it is drawn from the atmosphere at a position remote from openings 34.
