Abstract

665,558. Suction cleaner nozzles. ELECTROLUX CORPORATION. Oct. 11, 1948 [Nov. 8, 1947], No. 26453/48. Class 8 (i). The front and rear surface-engaging lips of a suction nozzle comprise a cylindrical rod 40, Fig. 2, and a plate 46 respectively and are each separately attached to the nozzle body 10, e.g., by surface engaging members 50. The body 10 comprises a unitary casting having a bottom opening bounded by the lips 40, 46 the end members 50, and a back plate 24, and a top opening 11, Fig. 1, providing a central high velocity aperture surrounded by air directing channels 12. A suction tube 20 extends through the back plate 24 to communicate with either nozzle selectively. The rod 40 may be rotated by an arm 45 to move teeth 44 out of contact with the surface being cleaned, and the plate 46 has a central fluted portion 46<SP>1</SP> and an internal flange 47 serving as an upper boundary of the suction passage. Bumper rings 14, 17 are located about the top and bottom suction openings.
