654,274. Refrigerating. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 5, 1948, No. 12399. Convention date, May 5, 1947. [Class 29] [Also in Group XXIX] In a compression refrigerating system comprising a low temperature evaporator 3 and a higher temperature evaporator 4 and a suction line 7, the evaporators 3, 4 are connected to the line 7 by branches 8, 9 respectively. the latter containing a snapaction valve 14 responsive to the pressure in the evaporator 4 and the former containing a check valve 32 which opens only when the valve 14 is closed, i.e. when the pressure in the line 7 has fallen. The valve 14 is described in Specification 654,278. Refrigerant flows to the evaporator 3 through a capillary tube 12 from a header 11. The temperature of the evaporator 3 controls the compressor motor 5.
