Abstract
849,158. Refrigerating. HEAT-X Inc. Dec. 20, 1956 [Dec. 20, 1955], No. 38871/56. Class 29 In a compression system the expansion valve 18 is controlled by a thermal element 50 responsive to the temperature of vapour from evaporator 20 after it has been heated by hot liquid refrigerant in exchanger B. The setting is such that saturated refrigerant leaves the evaporator, super-heating taking place in exchanger B. The vapour is further heated by hot liquid in exchanger A. At low loads, the resulting low pressure condition allows opening of a valve 53 which admits hot gas from the compressor exhaust to the inlet of exchanger B where it mixes with the cold vapour to increase the suction pressure. To avoid the effects of pressure drop across the evaporator, the environment of bulb 50 and valve 18 are connected by a pressure-equalizing conduit 52.
