844,414. Refrigerating; heat pumps. V. D. M. SPINNERS Ltd. Nov. 4, 1958 [Dec. 18, 1957; May 1, 1958], Nos. 39406/57 and 13835/58. Class 29 In a refrigerating system and heat pump having two evaporators Ee, Ef, connected in parallel to condenser C, the outlets of the evaporators are connected to compressor inlets of different pressure. The evaporators Ee, Ef may receive heat from outside air and a refrigerator respectively, the latter being connected to the compressor inlet of lower pressure. As shown in Fig. 1, the low pressure inlet 6 is located at the end of a single compressor cylinder 2, the high pressure inlet 7 being disposed part way along the cylinder wall. The inlet 7 may be formed as a nozzle or, as shown, may include a non - return valve 9. In a modification, vapour from the high pressure evaporator can be drawn partly into a high pressure cylinder and partly into a port disposed part way along the wall of the low pressure cylinder. According the the Provisional Specification high and low pressure cylinders are in a common casing, the latter withdraws vapour from the low pressure evaporator and discharges it into the casing where it is joined by vapour flowing from the high pressure evaporator, and .the former withdraws vapour from the casing and discharges it to the condenser. In a modification two cylinders withdraw vapour from the re-. spective evaporators and their discharges are joined together to supply vapour to the condenser.
