Abstract
575,884. Refrigerating. PRESSED STEEL CO.,Ltd., ROWLEDGE, E. G.,and NOLCKEN, W. G. April 21, 1944, No. 7411. [Class 29] Compression systems: In a plant comprising two or more separate systems operating in " cascade," i.e., with the condenser of the low temperature system cooled by the evaporator of the next higher temperature system, the compressor 1 of the low temperature system is in permanent communication with a storage vessel 8 of predetermined constant volume for the low temperature refrigerant, e.g., ethane, which is charged at atmospheric temperature. The compressor 1 is started, after the condenser 3 has been cooled by the evaporator 4 of a machine employing the higher temperature refrigerant, e.g., dichlorodifluor-methane, and when the compressor is stopped refrigerant may be stored as liquid in the condenser 3. A high pressure cut-out 10 and an overload valve 11 are provided in the system, as well as a lubricant separator 2. The low temperature refrigerant may be monochlorotrifluoromethane.
