[Class 44] [Also in Group XIV] A device for preventing displacement of drawers and the like in an aircraft galley, comprises a pair of channel members 11, 12, Fig. 1, fixed to a cabinet frame and securing a channel section housing 16 in position. A latch 20 is pivoted to the housing 16 by a pin 21 and its lower end normally engages teeth 19 formed on the rear end of the cover 17 of a drawer 18. One end of a rod 26 is hingedly attached to a bracket 23 on the latch 20 whilst its other end extends through an aperture in the rear wall 27 of member 11 and is provided with a press knob 28. A spring 31 compressed on rod 26 between the wall 27 and a washer 32 which is adjacent knob 28 urges rod 26 outwardly. This movement is limited by the latch 20 engaging teeth 19 and also by a shoulder 33 on the knob 28 contacting the front wall 30 of member 11 through which the knob passes. The front of cover 17 is prevented from chattering by means of a cam 39 which engages the top of the cover 17. The cam 39 is secured by a set screw 40, Fig 4, to a rod 37 whose rear end rests in an opening 38 in wall 27 and whose forward end is furnished with a button 34 which extends through an aperture in wall 30. On pressing inwards the indented head 35 of button 34 against the action of a compression spring 43 on the end of rod 37, a gear 41 which is rigid with cam 39 is disengaged from a sector gear secured to a mounting bracket 44. The rod 37 is then free for rotation and. consequent disengagement of cam 39, whereupon the front of cover 17 may be lifted to abut the inturned lip 49 of wall 30 and the drawer 18 is released from the shortened front edge 50 of cover 17. To remove the drawer 18 with its cover 17 the button 28 is pressed to release latch 20 from teeth 19. In a modification the teeth 19 are applied to or carried by an integral top wall or side of the drawer.
