652,793. Grid frameworks; floors. HOROWITZ, A. Feb. 18, 1948, No. 4712. Convention date, March 6, 1947. '[Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] A grid framework for supporting floors, roofs, ceilings &c. comprises intersecting flanged sheet metal bars, each bar 2, Figs. 1, 3, extending uninterruptedly through apertures in the other bars 1 formed, e.g. by tongues 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4, 4' struck out from the webs of the bars 1, the flanges of which also pass uninterruptedly through the points of intersection. The tongues 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, are bent backwards to lie on either side of the web of the bar 2 and are secured to it by spot welding or riveting. The triangular tongue 4 is bent upwards to protrude from the grid and provide a means for securing the flooring &c. slabs. The tongue 4<SP>1</SP> is bent backwards to bear against the lower face of the lower flange 6 of the bar 2 or it may be bent downwards if the lower side of the grid is to be covered. The flanges 6 of the bars 2 exactly fit between the flanges 5 of the bars 1 and may be secured thereto at the points of intersection. Instead of securing together the webs of the bars 1, 2 by means of the tongues 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, separate securing means such as angle irons may be used.
