Classes 20(2), 20(3) and 20(4) Building panels comprise alternate webs 2, Fig. 2, parallel with or inclined to the general panel surface, and flanges 1 more inclined than the webs 2 to this surface, the webs 2 being ribbed parallel to their joint edges with the flanges, which are ribbed at right angles to these edges as shown where the panels are generally flat and parallel to these edges where the panels are curved axially thereof (Fig. 1, not shown). As applied to a skylight construction, webs 2, Fig. 4, alternate with flanges 1 composed of panels of ribbed glass or transparent synthetic resin. The webs and flanges may be braced by struts, e.g. 3, 4, Fig. 4, and are joined by the co-action of secondary flanges 1a, 2a, Fig. 6, thereon, one of which may be longer than and bent over the other as shown before locking indentations 7 are pressed therein, or a separate U-shaped member may be placed over the flanges 1a, 2a before such pressing; alternatively the flanges 1a, 2a may be bent into waves or into a zig-zag formation 9, Fig. 8, which is locked by a further bent-over strip. Tongue pieces for attachment to beams may be inserted between the flanges 1a, 2a before they are joined, the tongue pieces having one end hooked to engage the flange 1a.
