663,390. Metal roofs. GRAHAM, T. May 9, 1950 [Feb. 10, 1949], No. 3705/49. Class 20(iv) Each metal sheet 1 in a roofing structure has two of its opposing edges set in the same direction at right angles to the plane of the sheet to form flanges 2, adjacent sheets being joined together by placing between two meeting flanges 2 the upstanding webs 5 of soft metal clips 3 and bending lugs 6 down over the flanges 2. A U-shaped metal strip 7 is clamped over the joint. The clips 3, which are formed by cutting slots through two opposing sides of a rectangular piece of soft metal and bending out the parts 4, 6, are fixed, e.g. by nails 8, at intervals along the rafter members which extend from the ridge to the eaves of the roof.
