Abstract

733,606. Walls and roofs. FURRER, J. Dec. 10, 1953 [Dec. 13, 1952], No. 34479/53. Class 20 (4). A roof or wall construction comprises inwardly bowed covering plates or sheets 1, having their longitudinal edge portions bent to lie over correspondingly bent portions 3a of the sides of rails 3, and fillets 4, which clamp sheets 1 to rails 3, the rails 3 being clamped to joists 2. Preferably, the plates are of sheet metal and are joined to the rails 3 by means of a tool having two pairs of rollers, mounted on a plate 7, one pair 9, 10 of which partially bends the edge portions 1a of the plates 1 around the rims 3a and, the second pair (not shown) completes the bending process. The rails are preferably provided with flanges 3b for engagement with fastenings 5 which are screwed on to joists 2 or like members. The roof may be substantially flat and the covering sheets may be of very thin material.
