816,447. Laminates. TAGPAPFABRIKEN PHONIX A.S. Feb. 15, 1957 [Feb. 20, 1956; Oct. 11, 1956], No. 5316/57. Class 140. [Also in Group X] A roofing sheet comprises a rectangular substantially rigid plate 1, preferably of fibrous material, secured along one or more lines parallel to its longitudinal sides 2, 6 to a layer 4 of roofing felt, the roofing felt being of the same length as the plate but having one or both of its longitudinal sides 7, 8 projecting beyond the longitudinal sides 2, 6 of the plate. One projecting side may be serrated as at 12, Fig. 5, to resemble roof shingles. In Fig. 5, the other longitudinal side is flush with the side of the plate, and a spacing strip of asphalt paper or asphalted roofing felt is inserted between the plate and roofing felt adjacent the projecting side (Fig. 6, not shown). In Fig. 1, the layers are secured together through a spacing strip 3 by means of staples 5; the length of the projecting part 7 preferably is equal to the difference between the distances of the strip 3 from the edges 2, 6, so that the sheets can be assembled in abutting relationship as in Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 3, several overlapping pieces of roofing felt 4, 10, 11 are secured to a single plate 1 so that the roofing felt projects beyond both longitudinal sides of the plate. A modified sheet for covering a roof ridge, Fig. 4, comprises a single piece of roofing felt secured by means of two spacing strips 3 to two plates 1 which are spaced apart, the roofing felt being capable of bending along its longitudinal medial line.
