Abstract
648,527. Sheet roofing. NEEL, E., SQUIRE, R., THOMAS, R., and GEAR, A. M. Dec. 13, 1948, No. 32152. [Class 20(iv)] Sheet roofing comprises a series of sheets 1 of suitable material whose neighbouring edges are covered by cover or junction elements 2 of inverted channel shape each comprising within their interior a T-shaped slot which extends from end to end of the cover and accommodates the head of bolt 6, the shank of which extends downwards and is fixed to the roof framework 8. The sheets, e.g. of metal or asbestos, may be corrugated and at the edges have upwardly inclined flanges 3 and a small flange 4 in the plane of the sheet. The member 2 has inwardly directed flanges 5 which are spaced apart to form the, slot, and are so shaped that the sides closely engage the flanges 3 of the sheets, and the flanges 5 rest on the flanges 4. The lower ends of the bolts 6 engage clips 7 which have a rounded portion to engage the purlin 8 and recess and a hole to receive the bolt.
