Abstract
1,024,295. Roof edges. REYNOLDS METALS CO. Jan. 16, 1963, No. 2048/63. Heading E1V. Overhanging roofs are lined on their exposed lower surfaces by corrugated metal soffit strips 50 supported at their ends by one or more metal fascia strips 30 and one or more metal frieze strips 52, each having supporting flanges, e.g. 38 (Fig. 1), corrugated sealing strips 48, or simple tubes may be employed between the soffit strips and the support strips, each sealing strip abutting against a rib on the support strip. Various shapes of support strips are shown, some with flanges set at an angle to the main body portion (Fig. 5, not shown) for use with sloping rafters. The support strips are fixed to their supporting surfaces by, e.g. nails, which pass through weakened portions of the strips. At the building corners, a special H-sectioned strip 182 (Fig. 16) is employed. Aluminium roof shingles 84 may be used, with interengaging longitudinal and transverse edges, and a gutter 106 (Fig. 11) may be supported on brackets 110 secured over the fascia strips.
