Abstract

652,377. Television receivers. JACKSON, D., and PYE, Ltd. Aug. 15, 1947, No. 22685. [Class 40 (iii)] A television receiver is provided with a chassis plate on which valves and other components are mounted and through an aperture in which the neck of the cathode-ray tube passes. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 4, the chassis plate 12 which is supported by a frame 13 is provided with an aperture 16 through which the neck of the cathode-ray tube 14 passes and a further aperture 22 behind which a loud-speaker 21 is mounted, other components such as valves 35 and 36 being also mounted on the plate 12. The neck of the tube 14 is supported from the chassis plate by means of a metal casing 18 which encloses the focusing and deflecting coils 19, 20, the latter being arranged for rotational adjustment by means of a lever 28, and the front of the tube is supported between horizontal frame members 32, 33, fitted with rubber pads 34. A bay-window extension 6, preferably of moulded transparent material, surrounds the screen end of the tube which projects from the front of the cabinet when the chassis is mounted therein. Manual controls 23, 24, which are carried by the frame member 13, project through slots 25 in the front of the cabinet. Apertures 9 and 10 are provided at the top and bottom of the cabinet for ventilation. Specifications 512,716, 600,096 and 628,541, [both in Group XL (a)], are referred to.
